WAKHOK is newly developed university which was established due to the devotion of Wakkanai citizens and their yearn for contemporary technology and quality education.
WAKHOK had received financial support from Wakkanai Shi to build the infrastructure and it enjoys wide support from the local residents. Below is the chronological development synopsis.
1987: Established as a junior college with two departments: Department of English and the Department of Management and Information.
2000: WAKHOK upgraded from 2 year college to a 4 year university with the faculty of Integrated Media. This became a new kind of faculty in Japan.
2004: WAKHOK opened its first branch- the Tokyo Satellite Campus in Ichigaya, Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo.
2005: The Tokyo Satellite Campus moved to Akihabara, Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo.
